Ron was born and raised in Tampa, Florida. He joined the United States Marine Corps and was sent to Memphis, Tennesse for specialty training in the Marine Corps Air Wing. He was later stationed on the west coast of U.S. in California, Alaska, and Arizona.
Following his honorable discharge he moved to Alaska to live.
Ron attended college in Arizona, Alaska, and Oregon, earning an art degree from the University of Alaska and a Science Degree from Oregon State University. He came to Corvallis in the 1980’s on a photography scholarship to OSU, and has lived here ever since.
Ron has been a photographer since the early 1970s, starting during his time in the marines investigating plane crashes and collecting image data. He later worked in newspapers, television, and radio as a reporter, producer, cameraman and a photographer. As a news producer and cameraman at KYEL-TV in Yuma Arizona he covered the story of the escape from Florence State Prison and subsequent killing spree by Randy Greenawalt and Gary Tison in Arizona in 1978. After 11 days on the run, and 6 murders for money and cars, the police caught up with them in the desert, in southern Arizona.
Ron met his wife Maria in 1978 while he was working for KJOK radio in Yuma. They were married two years later.
Ron has lived in Corvallis for over 30 years. For most of his career Ron worked for Hewlett-Packard, eventually becoming a Technical Producer. After 22 years, he retired from HP in 2009.
Since his retirement he has continued his photography. He primarily shoots with a Canon DSLR 2000D, capturing all of the beauty the Willamette Valley has to offer.
